250th Anniversary of the Battle of Moores Creek Bridge

Moores Creek National Battlefield will be commemorating the 250th Anniversary of the Battle of Moores Creek February 26-28, 2026. This battle was the first decisive patriot victory in the American Revolution and led to North Carolina to be the first colony to authorize its delegates to the 2nd Continental Congress to vote for independence. North Carolina was the "first in freedom." The basic schedule follows: Day 1: Thursday, Feb 26--Day of Education (Focus will be on hosting multiple school groups along with traditional living history demonstrations) Day 2: Friday, Feb 27--Day of Commemoration (The focal point will be a traditional wreath laying ceremony along with living history demonstrations and special guests) Day 3: Saturday, Feb 28--Day of Community Celebration (This day is set aside as a day of fun with music, games, “Freedom” Art Show, and food trucks along with traditional living history displays)
