The Museum of the Albemarle will host our monthly History for Lunch on Wednesday, May 21 at 12 p.m. in the Gordon Classroom. Author Bill Barber will highlight some of the men from northeastern North Carolina who served along our coast during the American Revolution and kept the British at bay. In 1776, the North Carolina Provincial Congress authorized the establishment of Independent Sea Coast Companies to patrol against British vessels along the coast. Eventually, the work of Sea Coast Companies transitioned to coastal militia who protected the shoreline for the duration of the war. The Museum will offer the History for Lunch program in-person and through Zoom. Registration is not required to attend the lecture in person.
